Also, I spend a lot of time trying to figure God out. I assume He is working one way or another. I think seriously that I should make decisions according to my ways, desires and will. Many days I plan my schedule without considering His perfect guidance and direction.
The wisdom of the world is sometimes considered common sense and making smart decisions. In fact there is no real wisdom in the world. The Bible says, “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. “ (1 Corinthians 3:19)
Can I really know God’s wisdom for my situation?
I need wisdom to:
• Follow the Lord
• Be a wife and mother
• Raise my family
• Use my time wisely
• Get all of my work and projects done
• Establish strong relationships
• Grow and mature
• Reach out and touch lives
• Do everything in my life
In order to know the will of God in all my life decisions I earnestly must ask Him for wisdom.
I looked to God to show me which college to attend and He put me in a school where He wanted me to let His light shine for His honor and glory. The campus was an open mission field where many students gave their lives to Christ.
I needed His wisdom in getting a teaching job. I did not want to teach in my own hometown, teach vocal music or teach in Junior High School. I knew what I did not want in a job and that is exactly what God gave me. He led me to a job where He changed me and worked out His plan in His wisdom for my life.
I sought the Lord for His wisdom in choosing my husband. He sent the best man to me, to be my helpmate and partner in ministry.
When facing infertility, I asked for divine wisdom and He opened the door for foster care. God enlarged our borders, brought children to us who needed ministry and gave us a family. These children had tremendous problems and insurmountable needs. As I cried to the Lord for wisdom, He changed lives and ministered to many of the their challenges.
In all of these life decisions and situations, there were times of great struggle and periods of unbelievable discouragement, yet the Lord told me to ask Him for wisdom, to believe His promises and trust Him with all of my heart.
Proverbs directs me to seek for the wisdom of the Lord:
• Incline your ear to wisdom
• The Lord gives wisdom,…knowledge and understanding
• Do not be wise in your own eyes
• Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom.
We should take time to identify any needs, and obstacles that require God’s intervention and His divine wisdom. Is it family, relationships, finances, job frustrations, or something else? Give it all to Jesus and ask Him for His wisdom. Jesus never fails. His timing is always perfect.
Promise: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5 (NIV)
Partnering with God: I need to ask myself, “What life situations and problems are challenging me today? “ His grace and wisdom are sufficient for my every need.
Lord, help me. Give me wisdom today. Help me to listen to You Lord, and show me Your way.
Let me know your thoughts!
